On the second day of Keto and Kote's wedding, the toastmaster, impoverished General Vano Pantiashvili, unexpectedly receives two telegrams from France. The first announces the death of the nobleman's uncle, Marshal de Fantie, while the second declares General Pantiashvili heir to the world's largest diamond, "Monte Rosa."
This begins the journey of the nobleman and his entourage, colorful characters from old Tbilisi, to Paris, filled with merry adventures and intrigues. What fate awaits General Pantiashvili and his companions in Paris: the proletarian Khecho, the financist Zipo, the engineer Porfilo, and the renowned Tbilisi matchmaker Khanuma, and what could force a general who distinguished himself in battles with Napoleon to refuse the world's largest diamond?
"The entire performance is based on the folklore 19th-century city. I chose the most colorful characters of Tbilisi and even sent them to Paris, which I hadn't been familiar with at that time. Some characters traveled to Paris directly from the Donkey Market, taking their own intrigues with them."
